Call Me Crazy

As many of you know, I'm an extremely busy person. Too busy, in fact, to make a cake. And WAY too busy to make two cakes in the same number of weeks. But I had an itch that needed to be scratched. I wanted to try this fondant recipe that I found, and it was SO easy. Here is my first attempt at a cake covered in fondant.

I made an almond poppyseed cake and filled it with vanilla pudding. It was so moist and yummy. Then I covered it with fondant and decorated with cute little polka dots. Voila!
Jake surprised me early Sunday morning for Mother's Day. When I got home from work waiting for me was the most beautiful Calla Lilly Plant (my favorite). I'm hoping that I'll be able to plant them and they'll actually grow here in Colorado.
Jake is ALMOST done with all of his exams and such. Here is a poster he has been working on that represents all the patients he's seen in the last year. Can you believe he has seen over 1500? Crazy. Good luck on your presentation tomorrow, honey. Then it's time to PARTY!!!

Braden's Birthday!

Have you heard the news?

Yup, My Braden is 2! He has the shots to prove it!

I can't believe my little boy is two already! We had a small party at our house, and after opening all the gifts he played with the balloons more than anything else. Oh well.

I spent a crazy amount of time making a cake for him....a WALL*E rainbow cake. I thought I'd share a few pictures.

First the rainbow cake: It's basically just a regular cake mix with food coloring, but it turned out so cute.

Then came the decorating....I attempted to free-hand WALL*E on the cake. It was a challenge, but fun to start decorating cakes again. It makes me want to get all my own supplies of pans, tips, bags, etc....I need to play around with fondant...now all I need is some ample time.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRADEN! We're so lucky to have you in our family.
